Capoeira
As a project for one of my classes, I had to join an organisation that was foreign to me and right about becoming a member. I chose Capoeira, a cross between a dance and a martial art, from Brazil. It has been very interesting to learn what they do, and watch them when they perform. It's also been a lot of work learning to do these things myself!

Some Amazing moves at the Batizado
The Batizado literally means 'Baptism.' It is where new mambers become part of the Capoeira Culture, and old members increase in their skill level.

The Australia and New Zealand Society Ball - Frevd's, 21 Nov 2003

A Ball with a bunch of Aussies and Kiwis is never dull :-)

Anu, me, and Tamson.
Tamson had a great time dressing up as a man, until she tried to go to the Ladies toilet and was chided for being in the wrong place!

Dancing the Night Away.
Frevd's is an old church that has been converted into a bar. We began the night with a live jazz band, and Elissa and I had a few good dances. It wasn't long, though, before the band packed up and the DJ pressed play. Not as classy as Ballroom, but it certainly got more people dancing. Ah, the times we live in...

Anu, me, Elissa, and Philip
I met up with Anu and Elissa at New College, and walked over to the Beat Cafe on Little Clarendon, where we meet a half-dozen other beautiful women. How do I find myself in these situations?? One friends couldn't make it, so I phoned up Philip to [slightly] even out the odds.

Anu will probably kill me when she sees this :-)
Anu and Elissa are both friends from New College. It was always easy to find them on the dance floor in those fantastic red dresses :-) Philip is the Treasurer of the Strategic Studies Group and is at St. Peter's.
