A lot of people [at least 2!] have asked me over the past few months to give a brief introduction to string theory. This usually happens after a few pints, so I’m often willing to give it a go, despite the fact that the last time I studied physics was at the turn of the century.
I am therefore pleased that Brian Greene, whose book ‘taught’ me string theory in the first place, has recently held a competition for the best presentation of string theory in under two minutes. The winner, String Ducky, is still a bit heavy on terminology, but should help my friends understand it a bit better than I think I explained it at the pub.
